About the Foundation Program

The Foundation Program is created to prepare you for entry into the undergraduate program of your choice.  

The program is designed to help you learn the academic skills required to succeed at university and provide you with opportunities to enhance your language, research, maths, and IT skills along with subject knowledge and content. 

Progression

  • Students who achieve a GPA of ≥ 80% can progress directly to their related undergraduate degree.
  • Students who achieve a GPA of < 80% can progress directly into the related Murdoch University diploma. On successful completion of the Murdoch University diploma, students can then progress to the second year of the related Murdoch University degree with advanced standing equivalent to 24 credit points.

Course Structure

Students will be required to complete 8 units to graduate from the Foundation program, including the following four core units:

  •           FDN022 - Advanced Academic Communication Skills
  •           FDN020 - Essential Mathematics
  •           FDN024 - Information Technology
  •           FDN025 - Advanced Academic Writing and Research

Note: students who plan to study IT in their Undergraduate course, must take the unit Maths 1 as one of the electives.

Faculty profiles – Foundation

Faiza Qureshi is the Discipline Lead for the Master of Education and Foundation Programs at Murdoch University, Dubai. She is the Chair of the Learning and Teaching Committee and a full-time lecturer for MEd and Graduate Certificates in Education courses. She is pursuing a PhD from Murdoch University (Australia), holds a Master of Education degree from Murdoch University (Dubai), a Dip. in English (University of London, UK), an ICELT (Cambridge, UK) and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (UK).

She is currently engaged in research projects in quality of assessment in transnational higher education, hybrid teaching and learning, cultural identity, student support in HE, academic integrity in HE and academic writing challenges in international universities. She has published several articles on ELT and teacher motivation and job satisfaction in academic journals and has been on an ELT Journal editorial board for several years. She has also co-authored an ESL book and few works of fiction.
