About the Foundation Program

The Foundation Program is created to prepare you for entry into the undergraduate program of your choice.

The program is designed to help you learn the academic skills required to succeed at university and provide you with opportunities to enhance your language, research, maths, and IT skills along with subject knowledge and content.

Progression

  • Students who achieve a GPA of ≥ 80% can progress directly to their related undergraduate degree.
  • Students who achieve a GPA of < 80% can progress directly into the related Murdoch University diploma. On successful completion of the Murdoch University diploma, students can then progress to the second year of the related Murdoch University degree with advanced standing equivalent to 24 credit points.

Course structure

Students will be required to complete 8 units to graduate from the Foundation program, including the following four core units:

  • FDN022 – Advanced Academic Communication Skills
  • FDN020 – Essential Mathematics
  • FDN024 – Information Technology
  • FDN025 – Advanced Academic Writing and Research

Also, students will select 4 units of the following specified elective options:

  • FDN013 – Management
  • FDN014 – Marketing
  • FDN016 – Accounting
  • FDN017 – Introduction to Project Management
  • FDN018 – Mathematics I
  • FDN023 – Intercultural Studies

Note: Students intending to continue on to an IT undergraduate course must enrol in and pass FDN018 Mathematics 1 and it is recommended that they take FDN017 Introduction to Project Management.
