Discipline Lead Profiles

Leena

Discipline Lead – Business

Dr Leena is a highly accomplished professional in Supply Chain Management, International Business, and Marketing. She holds a PhD in Supply Chain Management from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. Additionally, she possesses a PG Diploma in International Business from Symbiosis University, Pune, and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ajmer.

With over 10 years of teaching, research, training, and program management experience across the UAE, Dr Leena actively contributes to case study development for the UK case study centre and has published research work internationally. Her research interests encompass Reverse Supply Chain, Green and Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Consumer Behavioural aspects in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Emerging Technologies in Supply Chain, and Strategic Management.

Dr Leena brings 17 years of corporate experience working with renowned multinational companies, including John Deere Inc, DHL Danzas, Garware Technical Fibres, and Cipla Health Limited. Her expertise lies in the areas of Supply Chain Management and International Marketing. As an educator, she teaches various subjects, including Global Management, International Business, Sustainability, Business and Society, and Strategic Management for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Dr Leena's teaching interests extend to Supply Chain Management and Operations Management.

Maja

Discipline Lead – Psychology and Criminology

Maja Vurnek Zivkovic holds a PhD in Biomedicine and Health from the University of Zagreb (Croatia), an MSc in Health Psychology from King’s College London (UK) and a MA in Psychology from the University of Zagreb. She is Discipline Lead for Psychology and Criminology, as well as Student Counsellor at Murdoch University Dubai.

Maja’s teaching interests include Research Methods, Biological Bases of Behaviour, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology and Mental Health. Her primary research interests include psychoneuroimmunology, illness and treatment perceptions and pro-environmental behaviours.

Maja has also finished several therapeutic trainings, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and introductory training in Gestalt Psychotherapy.

faiza

Discipline Lead – Foundation Studies and Master of Education

Faiza Qureshi is the Discipline Lead for the Master of Education, Graduate Certificates in Education and Foundation Programs at Murdoch University Dubai. She is also the Chair of the Learning and Teaching Committee at the campus. Faiza is a full-time lecturer for MEd and Graduate Certificates in Education courses and is also the Discipline Head of the Language Enhancement course running in the diploma program. 

She is currently completing a PhD from Murdoch University (Australia), holds a Master of Education degree from Murdoch University (Dubai), a Dip. in English (University of London, UK), an ICELT (Cambridge, UK) and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (UK). Faiza regularly publishes her research in academic journals. She is currently engaged in several SoTL and educational research projects on quality of assessment in transnational higher education, activity theory and the use of ICT in education, hybrid teaching and learning, cultural identity of teachers, student support in HE, academic integrity in HE and academic writing challenges in international universities. She has published several articles on ELT, teacher motivation and teacher job satisfaction in academic journals and had been on an ELT Journal editorial board for about a decade. She has also co-authored an ESL book and a few works of fiction. 

Faiza has initiated, leads and supports several Learning and Teaching, Professional Learning and student learning support projects at Murdoch Dubai as Chair of the Learning and Teaching Committee for the campus.

Joseph

Discipline Lead – Communication

Joseph John Nalloor has over 18 years of experience teaching media in Dubai and has headed three media schools. He is also an Associate Fellowship holder from the Higher Education Academy (HEA), UK.

He is a Strategy Board Member of MEPRA (Middle East Public Relations Association) and a Board Member of PRCA-MENA (Public Relations and Communications Association). Joseph also serves on several university academic boards.

He believes in strong student-industry collaborations and has been responsible for multiple tie-ups with the Dubai Press Club, Emirates Literature Festival, Sharjah International Book Fair, and Dubai International Film Festival, among others. His students, over the years, have been working in media houses and PR firms in the UAE and the region.

Joseph has mentored several successful student teams participating in competitions and creative hackathons with several notable awards. 

Moreover, Joseph's research and industry engagement has garnered him recognition as a thought leader in the media field. His publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at international conferences, and contributions as a speaker on media issues demonstrate his commitment to staying at the forefront of industry trends and sharing his insights with a broad audience.

Discipline Lead – Information Technology

Salih is an industry-experienced academician. He is currently pursuing his doctoral research in the security of cloud computing. He graduated with a distinction in MSc in Computer Systems Management from Heriot-Watt University. He received BSc (Hons) in Information Technology from the University of Bedfordshire. He holds a Fellowship(FHEA) and a Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) from Higher Education Academy (UK).

His research interests include Cyber Security, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, and the Semantic Web. He has published across various disciplines in some of the top journals and conferences. His research collaborations have extended globally to receive funding for his projects.

Before academia, he worked in the industry in various posts, including IT Manager, Technology Officer, and Database Administrator, and sat on many advisory boards for tech start-ups. He has consulted on multiple mission-critical projects in Cyber Security for both Governments and Industries. He has received various awards showcasing his excellence in Cyber-Security, including the prestigious Dubai Electronic Cyber Security Innovation Award.
